Certified Organic Kids Clothes that proudly share Aboriginal stories of connection to Country and culture
Tammy here, founder of DulcieDot. I am a Goorie woman and descendant of the people of the Bundjalung nation of Northern NSW.
DulcieDot was established originally from a place of yearning to teach my children about our connection to Country and culture and of the incredible women in our family. My grandmother Dulcie along with her twin sister Dot were Bundjalung girls and just two of the many First Nations stolen children. Their strength, positivity, and resilience has been a source of strength for our family.
Dulcie and Dot’s story inspired me to partner with Aboriginal Artists and communities throughout Australia, to create a platform to proudly share and commemorate story’s of Country in the form of wearable art, all exhibited on ethically made garments.
We aim to clothe and educate the next generation with Aboriginal stories to continue our culture and connection.
How your support creates a positive impact
At DulcieDot we prioritize working with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, refugee and new migrant women because strengthening women enables communities to restore balance and unity within their families.
Every time you make a purchase with DulcieDot know that you are not only supporting small business but making an impact in the community and beyond.
DulcieDot directly supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artists with licensing payments and are we are building training and economic opportunities within the art, fashion and photography industries with both First Nations, refugee and new migrant photographers, models and makers throughout Australia.
Why are we starting a kids clothing brand ?
DulcieDot was also brewed from a place of frustration with the growing number of unethical rapidly produced, poorly made, one time use children's clothes. Although I have a circular economy of clothing with environmentally conscious friends and family, we found limited pieces that would last in both growth or quality past a few uses.
As kids are fabulous at getting grimy and grow so fast, I wanted to create quality garments that have that extra bit of growth and give in them so they can be worn longer and played forward again and again.
Our key pieces are consciously designed to grow with your child to ensure they get that extra length of wear.
Ethically Made and Certified Organic
Sustainability and slow fashion are weaved consciously into DulcieDot limited edition collections. We want to reduce our impact on the environment by ensuring our garments are ethically made under FairTrade conditions from GOTS certified organic and natural biodegradable fibres.
At present we partner with both local and international makers and are working towards becoming a fully locally made Australian brand.
We are proud to partner with The Social Outfit in Sydney Australia.
The Social outfit is a social enterprise and charity empowering people from refugee and new migrant backgrounds, with a particular focus on female humanitarian migrants by providing employment and training in clothing production, retail, design and marketing. As well as manufacturing and selling ethical and sustainable quality products that help to financially support these communities.
Our makers in India are FairTrade and ISO certified to SA8000. SA8000 certification is the leading global social certification that ensures that the workplace is operated under ethical practices, and they are dedicated to fair treatment of all staff. Our manufacturers factory is also certified to the GOTS standard.
